PRAISE THE LORD!!

They are Christians! :) I got to meet my family last night :) yeah i pretty much got the best host family here. i am already in love with them! They are exactly what I prayed for and I am so thankful to the LORD for answering my prayers (and probably a bunch of other people's too). They speak perfect english; my mom, Pilar is an english teacher at the gypsy school and my dad Luis is the pastor at like the only protestant church in cuidad real. there are actually 3; his parish is like 80 people and the other two parishes are 20 people approximately.

We have already talked about our testimonies and they are just incredible people that the LORD placed me with. They have 2 daughters Deborah and Becky. I laugh a little bit every time i say their names because they kind of remind me of like 90s sitcom characters or something hehe. "yeah mom, i'm goign to hang with debby and becky after school!" hehehhe. Deborah speaks a little bit of english; she is SUPER BEAUTIFUL like wow. so pretty!! and then becky is in school in madrid right now and will come home on saturday but i will be in Malaga. The only thing i know about becky is that she is a slob bahahhaha. that is like the only thing anyone has said about her hehe. like on my first tour of the house pilar showed me every room and when we got to becky's she was like yeah...the is becky's room, she is terribly messy. and then deborah just got home from university the day i got here and she was all embarrassed because apparently she is super tidy and hadn't had time to clean her room yet and she was like i'm so sorry, i'm the neat one...ya ya ya hehehehhehe. and thn luis pretty much said the same thing. good grief becky, get your act together haha.

I have my own room and last night they cooked me this delicious dinner!! I wanted to be helpful so I asked Pilar if i could do anything, she gave me one job....turn the sausages....yeah. we had mildly burnt sausages. woops; even in spain i can't be trusted hahahaha. Then she cooked this other thing that is like a spanish omelette; it has eggs and potatoes in it but it is like cutable; idk if you get it, its kind of hard for me to describe but there was cheese in it too. it was so good:
notice the slighty burnt sausage in the corner of the picture?

then for dessert we had apple and plum crumble. AAAHHHHHHH IT WAS SO FREAKING GOOD. and then we poured cream all over it (milk btw comes from a box here, so all you little elementary schoolers out there that freak out about the milk cartons and had to use a straw because you don't like your lips touching the carton, well in spain, you're screwed. all milk comes from a box). but back to the crumble. it rocked, i don't even like apples but i liked this, i think it was the plum that made it so good; i need to try me some plum.
something that is super weird here though is they consider fruit a dessert. no me gusta. yeah that wasn't happening for me...

So that was all last night me meeting them and loving them.
Today classes started and I LOVE MY TEACHER. He is from peru and he is so precious. he has us call him paco. yeah Dr. Olivera is THE BOMB. i really like my class too :) i seem to be understanding everything fine so that's pretty sweet and i'm basically just bopping along in spain.

after classes I was allowed to be in charge of the map too. yeah brynnan and elizabeth trusted me to get us to our next location and i did not disappoint if i do say so myself! we were supposed to find a grocery store and i led us to one :) if not directly i still got us there. so the spanish grocery store was an experience. THEN i got us to the main plaza. aka plaza mayor. and on the way i found an H&M mwahahahhahahahha :) and then i took us to this beautiful park that had fountains and flowers and benches everywhere. it was like something out of a movie. i loved it! i wish i could have taken pictures but my camera battery is dying.
and kyndall mandry before you say something along the lines of typical emily move. i only have one converter for all of my things; so i can only charge on thing at a time; so its a choice between my computer; my phone and my camera battery and the past two nice the camera battery lost. so thats why the pictures are lacking today; but its charging now so i will have more for you tomorrow!

and now for the silly story of the day:
so after the beautiful park experience Liz and I started walking home (we live like across the street from each other). people are really good at stopping for pedestrians here; like people go  out of their way to slam on the breaks if you are even just waiting to cross the street. spanish people must have incredible breaks because they are always slamming on them and parking on hills and such. so anyway we start crossing the street and everyone in spain spends a ton of time outside because the weather is completely fantastic so this family is out and dad is pushing the stroller across the cross walk and the kid in this stroller is like 2/3. so then dad hits a crack in the road and kid is strapped in and so dad accidentally pushes him face first into the pavement. OMGSH it was all i could to keep a straight face. this is simultaneously horrible and hilarious. i am like about to pee my pants on teh inside but on the outside i'm like "oh noo poor kid"...i mean but really what am i supposed to do? i don't speak spanish and i don't have any medical help for this kid. but omgsh his face when he came up from this faceplant was PRICE. it was just pure terror. think of taylor walling's face when i accidentally tackled her while walking to blocker. the two are very similar. it was that face that is like i am in complete shock and i want to cry but my emotions can't get sorted out fast enough to do anything so i am just going to have this look of horror on my face instead.

i had toast for breakfast and then lunch at the university is provided:

so all around it was a great second day with my host family. :) my mom made me pizza for dinner :) it was delicious and i had more apple crumble for dessert.

tomorrow i might try snails. my dad loves them....yeah snails. bleck.

i love you all,
Emily
