I come to you so weary I could just place my face on my keyboard and sleep for an eternity. And I dont think anyone reading doubts my sleeping abilities so this is a possible outcome. I already feel like I have been here forever and its only been 1 day. flibuhsdbjghblnbrgr MRACK :) hehe. This place is seriously cool though people. I have had an insanely action packed day and now I get to tell you guys about it. BTW Janet, there are M&Ms here, so I think we're safe to come back if we want.
Just thought I would get that off my chest. So we start every day out in Toledo with breakfast and for breakfast this morning I had a Ham and Cheese sandwhich with OJ and COFFEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! mmm yummy coffee hehe. And just so you people know, I will be taking pictures of everything I eat because it is fun for me :) so if you have a problem with this, well it's my blog not yours so BACK OFF.
Spain is beautiful. I can only think to put it that simply; also I'm obscenely tired and this blog is the only thing between me and sleep. Toledo is probably the prettiest and neatest city I have ever been to. All the streets are cobblestone and all the architecture is totally neato and I just love being here. I just get to walk around and look at pretty things all day and all the main stuff we have to get to is fairly close, like the dorm, the breakfast restaurant, and our class rooms. Here is a picture of the dorm I'm staying in:
^^those people in the picture are new friends! whoop hehe^^
So after breakfast we went to the university where we will be studying and had a little introduction to the people who are running our survival (more like remedial) Spanish language program. The university is so interesting! It is this really old building thats been like everything from a hospital to a prison to the place where royalty would stay when they came to Toledo. So long story short, this place was the bomb.
Also you should know that everyone in europe dresses completely impeccably. Everyone at this university was fabulous. The above picture is the library where you can find law students staring curiously at all the Americans. And I quote: "I've never seen so many Americans before in my life..." (quote translated by some dude, cause obviously I didn't catch that. And everyone on the trip was all like "ahh they are staring" and acting all self conscious. newbs. Clearly these people are not 6 feet tall with red hair and a decibel control problem nor do they have a brother who is 6'9". I repeat, what rookies to the people staring and talking as though you can't hear them game. Oh yeah and other picture of the library:
why yes, that is the last supper hehe :)
So in the morning we went on a tour of the university which is pretty small and then we were on our own for lunch. ADVENTURA TIEMPO (translate that :), its just cognates and silliness hehe).
Yeah so we went to our spanish classes after lunch and then to our engineering classes after that and then the program coordinators had a scavenger hunt for us. So usually I'm all about scavenger hunts but I am not kidding when I tell you people that this city is ALL UP HILL. We lost the scanvenger hunt with like 5th place out of 7 teams. But don't worry, that doesn't mean we didn't run all over the freaking city like insane mental patients (thats pretty much my opinion of runners). I think everyone in Toledo must had INCREDIBLE calves because not only at they all walking uphill all the time but they also always wear heels. SERIOUSLY AHHHH PAIN PAIN PAIN. no no no no no, you would have to pay me so much money to walk around this city in heels. But this instance just further illustrates my statement of fact that everyone in Toledo is fabulous.
So yeah this scavenger hunt took us like 2 hours around the city. haha but I did receive the best compliment ever from my dear brynnan and she said "emily, you are really good at not complaining". Thank you brynnan for noting my incredible self-restraint. :)
So we got back from the super fun but insanely tiring scavenger hunt and jumped right into another adventura. hehe. We were going to "the best spot in the city to watch the sunset" (<--this is Dr. Olivera AKA paco hehe talking). Well let me tell you about this sunset. So I am here in Spain to have a good time, experience some culture and maybe learn a few other sweet things along the way, so I'm pretty much up for any cool experience on this trip that I think might be fun. This sunset falls into that category. Well we get there at like 8 after AN HOUR OF WALKING and the sun is supposed to set at like 9:30 or something like that....let me put it into perspective:
A river goes around the city:
^^thats the view from a bridge of the river and that wall is the wall surrounding the city^^
So right now we have left the city walls....this is the view of the city from us walking....
we still aren't there yet though...
Here is me sitting on a wall with the city behind me:
I think we are staying like over by that tall cathedral....yeah you can barely see it because its so small and extremely far away, its kind of to the top right of my head. I just wanted people to have a fisual of all the walking I did today. Luckily I brought walking shoes :). yay.
So I have my tired but still chipper little self ready to wait an hour and a half for this stinking sunset and what happens?! CLOUDS MOVE IN FRONT OF THE SUN SO WE CAN'T EVEN SEE IT SET. AOSDIGUBHASDKUFBHNIKGUHDFALGHADFJKBH rawr. I was so disappointed and I am NEVER walking back to that place again. NO CAMINO hehehhe. Talk about tragedy.
This is the beautiful consolation prize I received after my hour and a half of waiting. It was almost as disappointing as ground hog day...
So then we just walked back and I got some food. please don't laugh its pizza, but really there is like no certain "spanish food" I can find besides paella and I already at that....so mwahaha I will have pizza whenever I want:
I love you all and I'm excited to have people following my crazy spain adventuras hehe. I am having so much fun still and it's been one day. and now i need my siesta before I die...
Love,
Emily
